A fantastic vineyard, exceptional vintage, and meticulous viticulture has combined to produce our first Syrah. This wine is aromatically expressive; floral, spice and fruit elements all have their say. Texturally, it is layered with fine, yet dense tannins and neatly framed by natural acidity.
Despite all the international column inches devoted to kiwi Syrah, there is actually only 300 hectares planted nationally. It’s like it is some “wine-insider only” wine. The reason so little wine has caught so much critical attention is due to the unique aromatic and textural profile. This profile is often at its most heightened when grown on gravel sites of Hawkes Bay.
The Whistleblower is a wine that realises our intent to make a wine which does justice to the growing excitement surrounding Hawkes Bay Syrah.
